The international seed company Harmoniz, formed from the merger of TomaTech and Nirit Seeds in 2022, continues to consolidate its position in the market as a leading company at the forefront in the development of innovative tomato varieties, flavorful hybrids resistant to the main plant disease and viruses, such as ToBRFV.

As Maury Fernandez, General Manager of the Spanish subsidiary, points out, “The new name, Harmoniz, emphasizes harmony between people, advanced R&D capabilities, molecular technology and genetic improvement techniques used. It also symbolizes the company’s ability to create harmony between its stakeholders and the global community along the chain.”

In this sense, innovation for Harmoniz goes through creativity and diversification, and includes concepts such as sustainable production, product quality and consumer’s eating experience.

“There are challenges to solve beyond yield, pathogen resistance and maturity” – says Fernandez – “Shelf life, taste, nutritional values, freshness and attractiveness of the product, to name a few. We have been working hard for years to face the agronomic challenges without ignoring the post-harvest ones, in an increasingly segmented market that demands more flavor, conservation and consistency on the shelf. Market-leading varieties such as our cherry Korino, the mini pear Dormaplum and Ultiplum, or the numerous colorful specialties such as the TT-768, Cantando, or the Berry and Candy collections are exemplary in this regard.”

Novelties 2023 in the large-sized Cluster segment

Constelación (TT-187) and Cosmostar, TOV for a complete cycle

In line with corporate goals and philosophy, this year Harmoniz doubles its proposal with Cosmostar and Constelación, offering farmers the possibility to maximize their profitability.

Cosmostar is a variety for short cycles already cultivated in both the West of Almeria and the East. While Constelación, new for 2023, is recommended for long cycles transplanted at the end of August. Both plants are strong and balanced, with good performance throughout the year and early harvest. Highly appreciated for the high production, cluster uniformity, fruit size (140-160 gr) and quality: tomatoes with very good skin, without cracking or microcracking, excellent deep shiny red color, firmness and post-harvest life, with an intense and traditional flavor.

Tucait, new plum 2023

In the large sized plum segment, Harmoniz launches this year Tucait, a variety with a balanced and very productive plant, recommended for short cycles and ideal for early tranplants, very well adapted to different growing conditions – either in the area of Nijar or in the area of El Ejido. It is a variety with excellent quality of fruit for uniform size (150-200 gr) and color, very striking and intense, firmness and shelf life with no cracking.
